Typeform holds a 4.5 rating across 1,017 reviews on G2 and a 4.7 rating across 973 reviews on Capterra, strong numbers by any measure. But scores alone don't tell you what the product is actually for. I went through Typeform's own product pages, its pricing structure, and independent review data to write this Typeform review, including where it genuinely earns its reputation and where it doesn't fit.
I believe Typeform is the right call if:
- You need visually polished, conversational lead-gen or marketing forms
- You want built-in AI-driven lead enrichment and follow-up automation through Growth Flow
- Design quality matters more to you than running an ongoing, structured feedback program
It's a weaker fit if:
- You need a dedicated NPS, CSAT, or PMF program with segmentation and closed-loop workflows, not just a form
- You're budget-sensitive on a per-response basis at low volume
- You need self-hosting or a data residency choice below the custom-priced Enterprise tier
Because of that, I've included a full comparison with Formbricks later in this review.

What Is Typeform?
Co-founders David Okuniev and Robert Muñoz built the original Typeform prototype in 2012 out of a lead-generation form project for a Barcelona-based toilet company, Roca, while running separate design agencies. That project became the standalone product. Typeform has been remote-first since founding and now employs 250+ people, with 150,000+ businesses using the platform, per Typeform's own about page.
Its core positioning has shifted from a pure form builder to "AI forms and automated workflows," a one-question-at-a-time conversational form, extended with Typeform AI (form generation from a prompt), Growth Flow (automated lead enrichment and follow-up), and Research Flow (AI-moderated research interviews at survey scale). Typeform claims 48M+ responses collected monthly across the platform.

Typeform Review: How It Works & Key Features
Conversational Form Builder
Typeform's core product is a one-question-at-a-time layout that mimics natural conversation rather than a traditional grid of questions. Typeform AI can generate a complete form from a written prompt, and the builder includes conditional logic, custom endings, and URL parameters on every plan, including the free tier.
Distribution and Integrations
Forms embed directly into web pages, distribute via link or email, and connect to Calendly, Zapier, Google Sheets, Slack, Mailchimp, and Airtable, even on the free plan. Paid tiers add custom subdomains and, at Business, conversion tracking specifically built for lead-gen use cases.
Growth Flow and Research Flow
Growth Flow is a separately priced product ($379/month, or $266/month billed annually) layered onto the same pricing page: automated lead enrichment claiming up to 92% match rate for B2B contacts, Smart Insights, Salesforce integration, and automated email/SMS follow-ups. Research Flow extends Typeform into AI-moderated research interviews across text, video, and voice, with automated synthesis, a meaningfully different product from the core conversational form.
Analytics
Drop-off rate analytics and conversion tracking don't unlock until the Business plan ($129/month, or $91/month billed annually). Below that, Basic and Plus users get response counts without visibility into where respondents abandon a form.

Where Typeform Falls Short
Captured August 16, 2026 from typeform.com/pricing.
Free-Tier Cap Is Genuinely Low
- The Free plan caps at 10 responses/month across all forms combined, per Typeform's own Help Center
- That cap doesn't appear on the main pricing page itself, only in a separate Help Center article
Response-Based Pricing Escalates Quickly
- Basic caps at 100 responses/month for $39/month ($28/month billed annually)
- Drop-off rate analytics, arguably the most useful feedback-specific feature on offer, doesn't unlock until Business at $129/month
Not Built for Ongoing CX or Feedback Programs
- Typeform is optimized for lead-gen and conversational data capture, not recurring NPS/CSAT tracking, segment-level analysis, or closed-loop follow-up
- There's no dedicated program layer equivalent to a structured feedback tool, even at Business or Enterprise
No Self-Hosting Below Custom Enterprise Pricing
- A choice of US or EU data center only appears on the custom-priced Enterprise plan
- Every other tier is cloud-only with no region choice, and no self-hosted deployment exists at any price
Not Well Suited to Long or Complex Surveys
- Independent review sources note the one-question-at-a-time format that makes Typeform feel conversational for short forms becomes tedious for longer, multi-section surveys

What Reviewers Say
Typeform holds a 4.5 rating across 1,017 reviews on G2 and a 4.7 rating across 973 reviews on Capterra. Design quality and user experience are the most frequently cited reasons reviewers choose Typeform over competitors, and the conversational, one-question-at-a-time format is consistently called out as a genuine differentiator, not just a marketing claim.
The recurring criticism across independent sources: Typeform isn't well suited to long or complex surveys, and its price per response is higher than form-builder competitors at the entry tier.

A Different Approach: Formbricks as an Open Feedback and Experience Management Suite
Captured August 15, 2026 from formbricks.com.
Formbricks isn't a fourth conversational-form competitor chasing the same lead-gen use case. It's an open source feedback and experience management suite built around three things: feedback management, feedback analytics, and workflows and integrations, unified on one platform and published transparently at every tier.
Feedback Management. Formbricks unifies channels Typeform doesn't combine on a single platform: website surveys that target specific visitors, in-app surveys reaching any user cohort inside your product, link surveys, and branded surveys embedded directly in email.
Feedback Analytics. Response data flows into one dashboard regardless of channel, with drop-off tracking included from the free Hobby tier rather than gated to a $129/month plan. Teams can follow an individual response's full trail or zoom out for the aggregate picture, and segment by custom attributes.
Workflows and Integrations. Formbricks Workflows automate what happens after a response comes in, comparable in spirit to Typeform's separately-priced Growth Flow, but included on the same platform rather than sold as a $379/month add-on product. Native integrations connect to Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Google Sheets, and Notion through webhooks and a free, unrestricted API on every tier, including the self-hosted Community Edition.

|---|---|---|---|

| Scale | $390/month, or $325/month billed annually | 5,000 | Teams & access roles, quota management |
| Self-hosted | Free (Community) or custom (Enterprise) | Unlimited | AGPLv3, data stays on your own infrastructure |
Where Typeform's Free plan caps at 10 responses/month (a number that doesn't even appear on its own pricing page), Formbricks Hobby publishes 250 responses/month, drop-off tracking, and full API access on the pricing page itself.

Who Should Actually Use Typeform
Typeform makes sense if you want visually polished, conversational forms for lead generation or marketing, you want built-in AI lead enrichment through Growth Flow, and design quality matters more to you than running an ongoing, structured feedback program.
As an illustrative example, a marketing team might embed a Typeform lead-gen form on a landing page to qualify inbound leads before routing them to sales, an adjacent use case to a structured feedback and CX program. This is a hypothetical scenario built from Typeform's published product positioning, not a documented customer case study.
It's a weaker fit if you need a dedicated NPS, CSAT, or PMF program with segmentation and closed-loop workflows, you're budget-sensitive on a per-response basis at low volume, or you need self-hosting or a data residency choice without a custom Enterprise contract.
Typeform Review FAQ
Final Verdict
👍 Typeform is the right call if visually polished, conversational forms are the actual job, lead generation, marketing quizzes, event registration, and you want built-in AI lead enrichment through Growth Flow. Reviewers consistently praise its design quality, and that's a genuine, earned differentiator.
👉 Formbricks is the better fit if you're running an ongoing feedback or CX program rather than a one-off form, want drop-off analytics without waiting for a $129/month tier to unlock it, and want a self-hosted path Typeform doesn't offer at any price.
The honest read: these solve adjacent but different problems, conversational lead-gen forms versus structured feedback management. If transparent pricing and a feedback-first feature set matter more to you than conversational polish, see Formbricks' current pricing here.
