Wufoo has been around since 2006, one of the oldest form builders still operating, and it's genuinely legitimate: a real, SurveyMonkey-owned product used by 3+ million users. But "legitimate" and "the right tool for your form or survey today" are two different questions, and I went through Wufoo's own pricing page and its G2 review data to answer both for this Wufoo review.

What Is Wufoo?
Wufoo was founded in 2006 by Kevin Hale, Chris Campbell, and Ryan Campbell in Tampa, Florida, on the idea that forms were the starting point for building anything useful on the web. It went through Y Combinator and was acquired by SurveyMonkey in 2011 for approximately $35 million to complement SurveyMonkey's own data-collection suite. It now operates as "Wufoo by SurveyMonkey," per SurveyMonkey's own acquisition announcement.
Wufoo positions itself simply: "Build powerful online forms and customize them to your heart's delight." It's used by 3+ million users, per its own homepage, spanning drag-and-drop form building, payment collection, and out-of-the-box reporting available on every plan, including free.

Wufoo Review: How It Works & Key Features
Form Building
Wufoo's drag-and-drop builder includes 400+ templates, a theme designer, and field validation. Field types and layout options are aimed at straightforward operational forms, registrations, orders, and internal data collection, rather than design-first conversational forms.

Payments
Paid plans support payment collection via PayPal, Stripe, Authorize.Net, and other gateways, useful for nonprofits and small businesses collecting donations or product orders directly through a form.
Reporting
Out-of-the-box and custom reports are available on every plan, including the free tier, a genuine differentiator versus competitors that gate reporting entirely behind paid plans.
Security
Forms are 100% SSL-hosted. Field encryption and password protection are available on higher tiers (Professional and above). Notably absent at any tier: a CAPTCHA or equivalent spam-prevention feature.

Worth flagging: Wufoo's own pricing page shows annual-billing prices, while G2's vendor-submitted widget shows monthly-billing prices for the same tiers, both are real figures for different billing cadences, not conflicting numbers.

Where Wufoo Falls Short
No CAPTCHA or Spam Prevention at Any Tier
- Wufoo's own pricing grid lists no anti-spam feature at any plan level
- One long-time G2 reviewer documented over 35,000 fraudulent submissions hitting a payment-integrated form in an 8-hour span, with no effective fix offered by support
Dated Interface
- Multiple reviewers across several years describe the design as outdated compared to modern form builders
- This can depress form completion rates for public-facing forms
Email-Only Support
- No live chat or phone support at any tier
- Slower resolution for time-sensitive issues like the spam incident above
Not a Purpose-Built Feedback or CX Program
- Wufoo is a general-purpose form/survey tool under the SurveyMonkey umbrella
- No dedicated NPS/CSAT program or journey analytics of its own

What Reviewers Say
Wufoo holds a 4.2 rating across 296 reviews on G2. Reviewers consistently praise its ease of use and customization without needing advanced technical skills, along with simple, reliable Zapier integrations for automating data entry into other tools.
The most detailed negative account comes from a long-term nonprofit customer who reported the platform's complete lack of CAPTCHA protection led to a severe spam attack, over 35,000 fraudulent credit-card transaction attempts in an 8-hour span, with no effective remedy from Wufoo's email-only support.
Formbricks: An Open Feedback and Experience Management Suite
Wufoo is a general-purpose, operational form builder, forms, payments, and reports, not a feedback platform. Formbricks takes a different approach entirely: an open source feedback and experience management suite built around feedback management, feedback analytics, and workflows and integrations.
Feedback Management. Formbricks unifies website surveys, in-app surveys, link surveys, and branded email surveys as the core product, with built-in spam and abuse protection by default rather than as an unaddressed gap.
Feedback Analytics. Every response flows into one dashboard, with individual response tracking, aggregate views, and custom attribute segmentation.
Workflows and Integrations. Formbricks Workflows automate what happens after a response comes in, with native integrations to Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Google Sheets, and Notion through webhooks and a free, unrestricted API on every tier, including a self-hosted Community Edition Wufoo doesn't offer.

Feature Value Breakdown
Entry-Level Price
Wufoo's Approach: Starter is $16.25-19/month, a genuinely low entry point for basic form building.
Formbricks' Approach: Pro starts at $74-89/month, priced for a structured, ongoing feedback program rather than a single operational form.
Value Verdict: Wufoo wins on raw price for simple, low-volume form needs.
Spam and Fraud Protection
Wufoo's Approach: No CAPTCHA feature listed anywhere in Wufoo's pricing grid, and a verified reviewer documented a large-scale spam attack with no vendor remedy.
Formbricks' Approach: Spam protection is included by default rather than absent.
Value Verdict: Formbricks wins decisively, particularly for any form or survey that accepts payments or is publicly exposed at scale.
Modern UI/UX
Wufoo's Approach: Repeated "outdated" feedback in G2 reviews spanning multiple years.
Formbricks' Approach: A modern, actively maintained interface.
Value Verdict: Formbricks wins on this dimension, per the pattern in Wufoo's own review history.
Experience Management Depth
Wufoo's Approach: A general-purpose form/survey tool under the SurveyMonkey umbrella, with no dedicated NPS/CSAT program or journey analytics of its own.
Formbricks' Approach: Purpose-built for feedback management, feedback analytics, and workflows as the core product.
Value Verdict: Formbricks wins decisively for teams running a structured feedback program rather than collecting operational form data.
Who Should Use Wufoo
Wufoo makes sense if you need a low-cost, no-frills form builder for internal data collection with modest volume, or you're already in the SurveyMonkey ecosystem and want a lightweight companion tool for forms.
As an illustrative hypothetical based on Wufoo's own nonprofit-oriented testimonials, a small nonprofit might use Wufoo's Professional plan to collect donations and volunteer sign-ups, embedding the form on its website and routing entries to Mailchimp via Zapier. Worth weighing against this: a separate, real G2 review documents a nonprofit's negative experience with Wufoo's spam handling on a payment-integrated form.
It's a weaker fit if your forms collect payments or are publicly exposed at scale, given the lack of CAPTCHA protection is a real fraud risk, you need a modern, on-brand form design experience, or you need a dedicated XM/CX program rather than a simple form tool.
Wufoo Review FAQ
Final Verdict
👍 Wufoo is the right call if you need a low-cost, no-frills form builder for internal data collection with modest volume, and you're comfortable with an interface reviewers consistently describe as dated and email-only support.
👉 Formbricks is the better fit if surveys and structured feedback are the actual job, not a one-off operational form, and you want built-in spam protection, a modern interface, and a self-hosted path Wufoo doesn't offer at any price.
The honest read: Wufoo is a legitimate, long-running product now backed by SurveyMonkey, but its own reviewers flag real gaps, spam protection and interface freshness among them. If you need a dedicated feedback management, feedback analytics, and workflows platform, see Formbricks' current pricing here.
