Cognito Forms' pricing page leads with "unlimited forms and payments on every plan," a headline that makes all four tiers sound close in capability. Read the G2 reviews, and a different picture shows up: advanced template customization, the thing that actually makes a form look on-brand, is locked to the top-tier Enterprise plan at $129/month, a limitation the pricing page itself never mentions.

Formbricks open-source feedback and experience management platform

I pulled Cognito Forms' live pricing page directly and cross-checked it against G2's review data to see what the plans really include. Here's what Cognito Forms costs, where reviewers say the marketing gets ahead of the product, and how it compares to Formbricks, an open feedback and experience management suite.

I believe Cognito Forms is the right call if:

  • You need a lightweight form and workflow automation tool for internal ops, HR, or nonprofit intake, with e-signatures, approvals, and document generation
  • You want a genuinely usable free tier with 100 entries/month and no time limit
  • Your forms depend on complex calculations, repeating sections, or data lookups more than visual design

It's a weaker fit if:

  • On-brand template customization matters to you and you're not budgeting for the $129/month Enterprise tier
  • You need a dedicated NPS/CSAT/XM program with journey analytics rather than a forms-and-workflow tool
  • You require self-hosting or an explicit EU data residency guarantee

Because of that, I've included a full comparison with Formbricks later in this breakdown, since structured feedback programs are Formbricks' core product rather than a form-and-workflow add-on.

The Design Customization Gap the Pricing Page Doesn't Mention

Cognito Forms' pricing page promises "unlimited forms and payments on every plan" and frames the differences between tiers mostly around entries, users, and storage. Nowhere does the page say that meaningful template and design customization is limited on the lower tiers.

G2 reviewers say otherwise. Cognito Forms' own review data notes that "design/template customization options could be more robust," and that advanced template customization is effectively locked behind the highest-tier plan, a real jump for teams that only need on-brand forms, not the full Enterprise feature set (HIPAA, SSO, folder permissions).

The Bottom Line: if a polished, branded form is the reason you're evaluating Cognito Forms, the pricing page won't tell you that reviewers say you may need to budget for Enterprise to get there.

Individual Plan: Free

FeatureDetails
Price$0
Users1
Monthly entries100
Storage100 MB
PaymentsAccepted
BrandingCognito Forms branding shown

The free Individual plan includes payment acceptance from day one, unusual for a free form-builder tier, but caps out at 100 entries a month with no guest access.

Individual Plan
ProsCons
✅ Payments accepted even on the free tier❌ Only 100 entries/month
✅ Unlimited forms❌ Cognito Forms branding on every form
✅ No credit card required❌ Single user, no guest access

The Bottom Line: Individual is a real trial of the builder and its payment flow, but 100 monthly entries is a ceiling most real use cases hit fast.

Pro Plan: $19/Month (Billed Annually)

Cognito Forms pricing page showing Individual, Pro, Team, and Enterprise plan tiers

Captured August 15, 2026 from cognitoforms.com/pricing.

FeatureDetails
Price$19/month billed annually, or $24/month billed monthly
Users2
Monthly entries2,000
Storage1 GB
Added FeaturesElectronic signatures, save & resume, remove Cognito Forms branding, remove platform branding

Pro is the first tier that removes Cognito Forms' own branding and adds e-signatures, a meaningful jump from Individual, though the design flexibility gap reviewers describe isn't resolved here either.

Pro Plan
ProsCons
✅ 20x the entry cap of Individual (2,000 vs 100)❌ Still only 2 users
✅ Electronic signatures and save & resume included❌ $5/month more if billed monthly instead of annually
✅ Branding removed❌ Advanced template customization still not available per G2 reviewers

The Bottom Line: Pro fits freelancers and small teams that have outgrown the free tier's volume, not teams whose main blocker is on-brand form design.

Team Plan: $39/Month (Billed Annually)

FeatureDetails
Price$39/month billed annually, or $49/month billed monthly
Users5 (plus 5 included guests)
Monthly entries10,000
Storage10 GB
Added FeaturesClient portal, workflow & approvals, data lookups

Team is the first tier with real collaboration: 5 users plus 5 guest seats, a self-service client portal, and workflow and approval routing on top of everything in Pro.

Team Plan
ProsCons
✅ Marked "Best Value" by Cognito Forms itself❌ $10/month more if billed monthly
✅ Client portal and workflow/approval routing❌ HIPAA compliance still not available
✅ 10,000 monthly entries, 10 GB storage❌ Guest seats are capped at 5

The Bottom Line: Team is where Cognito Forms starts to look like a real workflow-automation platform, not just a form builder, but compliance features stay another tier up.

Enterprise Plan: $129/Month (Billed Annually)

FeatureDetails
Price$129/month billed annually, or $174/month billed monthly
Users20 (plus 20 included guests)
Monthly entriesUnlimited
Storage100 GB
Added FeaturesHIPAA compliance, folder permissions, single sign-on

Enterprise is the only tier with HIPAA compliance and SSO, and per G2 reviewers, the tier where advanced template customization actually becomes available.

Enterprise Plan
ProsCons
✅ Unlimited entries and 100 GB storage❌ $45/month more than Team just to reach HIPAA and SSO
✅ HIPAA compliance and folder permissions❌ $174/month if billed monthly, more than 7x Individual's paid entry point
✅ 20 users plus 20 guest seats❌ Full design flexibility gated here, per reviewer feedback, not stated on the pricing page

The Bottom Line: Enterprise is where compliance and (per reviewers) real design control both live, a real jump from Team for teams that only need one of the two.

Where Cognito Forms Pricing Falls Short

Design Flexibility Isn't Called Out on the Pricing Page

  • The pricing page markets "unlimited forms and payments on every plan" without flagging that template customization is limited below Enterprise
  • G2 reviewers specifically cite this as a pain point, not a marketing claim made independently by Formbricks

HIPAA Compliance Gated to the Top Tier

  • HIPAA compliance is only available on the $129/month (annual) Enterprise plan
  • Healthcare-adjacent teams with modest entry volume still pay for Enterprise's full unlimited-entry, 100 GB tier just to reach compliance

Guest Seats Are Capped Below Enterprise

  • Team includes 5 guest seats; Enterprise includes 20
  • There's no way to add more guest access without moving up a full tier

No Native XM/Analytics Layer

  • Cognito Forms is a forms-and-workflow-automation tool, with no dedicated NPS/CSAT program, journey analytics, or multi-channel survey distribution
  • Teams running a structured feedback program are using a form-and-document tool that happens to collect responses, not a tool built for that specific job

No Documented Self-Hosting or EU Hosting Option

  • No self-hosting option or explicit EU data residency guarantee is published on cognitoforms.com
  • Teams with a hard data-residency requirement have no documented path here

Formbricks: An Open Feedback and Experience Management Suite

Formbricks isn't a forms-and-workflow tool with survey collection bolted on. It's an open source feedback and experience management suite built around three things: feedback management, feedback analytics, and workflows and integrations, published transparently on every tier.

Feedback Management. Formbricks unifies website surveys, in-app surveys, link surveys, and branded email surveys on one platform. Where Cognito Forms' strength is operational data collection with e-signatures and document generation, Formbricks is purpose-built for structured feedback programs like NPS, CSAT, and PMF tracking.

Feedback Analytics. Every response flows into one dashboard. Teams can follow individual responses, zoom out for the aggregate view, track partial and dropped-off submissions, and segment by custom attributes, capabilities a forms-and-workflow tool doesn't build for.

Workflows and Integrations. Formbricks Workflows automate what happens after a response comes in. Native integrations connect to Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Google Sheets, and Notion through webhooks and a free, unrestricted API available on every tier, including the self-hosted Community Edition.

Formbricks Hobby Plan: Free Forever

Price$0

HostingFrankfurt, Germany

Where Cognito Forms' Individual plan caps at 100 monthly entries with branding shown, Formbricks Hobby includes 250 monthly responses and full API access from day one.

Hobby Plan
ProsCons
✅ 250 responses/month, 2.5x Cognito Forms' free entry cap❌ 1 workspace only
✅ Full API access, no restrictions❌ Formbricks branding shown
✅ Hosted in Frankfurt (EU data residency)❌ No payment collection or e-signatures (not Formbricks' focus)

The Bottom Line: Hobby's response cap beats Cognito Forms' free entry cap outright, with EU hosting stated up front rather than left undocumented.

Formbricks Pro Plan: $89/Month (or $74/Month Billed Annually)

AutomationAll integrations, email follow-ups, custom webhooks, iOS/Android SDKs, AI translations

Pro's unlimited seats stand in contrast to Cognito Forms, where every tier below Enterprise caps users between 2 and 5.

Pro Plan
ProsCons
✅ Unlimited team seats included❌ Cloud deployment only at this tier
✅ Attribute-based segmentation for targeted surveys❌ 2,000 response cap (overage available)
✅ Published monthly and annual pricing❌ No e-signatures, document generation, or payment collection

The Bottom Line: Pro costs less than Cognito Forms' Enterprise tier while including unlimited seats, something Cognito Forms only offers at 20 users even at its top price point.

Formbricks Scale Plan: $390/Month (or $325/Month Billed Annually)

The Bottom Line: Scale is Formbricks' highest published, self-serve tier, still with a real dollar price rather than a custom quote.

What Reviewers Say About Cognito Forms

Cognito Forms holds a 4.6 rating across 132 reviews on G2, in the Online Form Builder category.

Cognito Forms Reviews
ProsCons
✅ Ease of use and flexibility for building forms without technical expertise❌ Design/template customization options could be more robust
✅ Table-building and document-generation features stand out versus competitors❌ Advanced template customization is locked behind the highest-tier plan

Cognito Forms' own pricing page also features Trustpilot testimonials from named users praising ease of use ("Cognito Forms makes it so easy to develop contracts, surveys, or any kind of informational form," per a review the company links to directly), though these are vendor-selected quotes rather than an independent review sample.

Feature Value Breakdown

Workflow and Document Automation

Cognito Forms' Approach: Dedicated workflow, e-signature, and document-generation products, including auto-generated Word/PDF documents from form data and a client portal on Team and above.

Formbricks' Approach: A survey-first builder with no e-signature, document-generation, or payment-collection layer.

Value Verdict: Cognito Forms wins decisively. This isn't a category Formbricks competes in.

Purpose-Built XM/CX Program Management

Cognito Forms' Approach: No dedicated NPS/CSAT workflow, closed-loop feedback layer, or CX analytics built into any plan.

Formbricks' Approach: Purpose-built for structured feedback programs, with attribute-based targeting, feedback analytics, and Workflows for post-response automation.

Value Verdict: Formbricks wins. If the job is running an ongoing feedback program rather than a document workflow, this is the more relevant dimension.

Design and Template Flexibility

Cognito Forms' Approach: Per G2 reviewers, meaningful template customization is effectively gated to the Enterprise tier, a limitation not stated on the pricing page itself.

Formbricks' Approach: Core survey styling and branding removal are available from the Pro tier, with no separate "design tier" beyond that.

Value Verdict: Formbricks wins on transparency here, even though neither product is a design-first tool.

Data Residency and Self-Hosting

Cognito Forms' Approach: No self-hosting option or explicit EU hosting guarantee is published.

Formbricks' Approach: Free, self-hosted Community Edition (AGPLv3), plus a Frankfurt-hosted Cloud option.

Value Verdict: Formbricks wins decisively for any buyer where data residency is a requirement rather than a preference.

Who Should Actually Pay for Cognito Forms

Cognito Forms makes sense if you need a lightweight form and workflow automation tool for internal ops, HR, or nonprofit intake, you want e-signatures and document generation bundled with forms, and you're comfortable budgeting for Enterprise if on-brand template design matters.

As an illustrative example, a nonprofit's grants team might use Cognito Forms' Team plan to automate grant applications: a donor submits a form, the workflow engine routes it to a reviewer role, and an approval triggers a generated PDF grant letter. This is a hypothetical scenario built from Cognito Forms' own nonprofit template messaging, not a published customer case study.

It's a weaker fit if you need dedicated NPS/CSAT program management or CX analytics, your team needs guest access beyond 5 seats without jumping to Enterprise, or you have a hard data-residency requirement Cognito Forms doesn't document a path for.

Cognito Forms Pricing FAQ

Final Verdict

👍 Cognito Forms is the right call if you need a lightweight form and workflow automation tool for internal ops, HR, or nonprofit intake, with e-signatures, document generation, and complex calculations. Its table-building features and free tier's payment acceptance are genuine strengths reviewers back up.

👉 Formbricks is the better fit if your actual job is running a structured feedback program, not a document workflow, and you want unlimited team seats included below custom Enterprise pricing, transparent design capability with no reviewer-flagged gap, and a self-hosted path for full data control.

The honest read: these solve different problems. Cognito Forms is a forms-and-workflow-automation tool with strong document and e-signature features; Formbricks is purpose-built for feedback management, feedback analytics, and workflows as its core product. If your search for "Cognito Forms pricing" was really a search for a dedicated feedback platform, see Formbricks' current pricing here.
